The town of Newtown bought the 186 acre campus from the state of Connecticut in 2004 and is making strides is preservation as far as re-use goes under the guide of Julia Wasserman. Already much of the land is given back to Connecticut agriculture and open space projects. The dairy farm barns are already being used for the Governor's Horse Guard and the piggery on the farm will be used for housing military canines. Every summer the C.H. Booth Library holds it's annual book sale in Bridgeport Hall and town offices are held in Canaan House. The current campus is used on a daily basis by dog walkers, joggers, walkers, and youth who use the ball fields. The lush, manicured green lawns and beautiful buildings beckon it's use everyday. The Master Plan for the buildings re-use is still up in the air but town officials are meeting and still making proposals.
