Newtown Hall

Year built: 1930
Square footage: 22,260

The first unit built on the Fairfield State campus. This building was featured for the ceremonial laying of the cornerstone. The cornerstone contains items that were presented suring the ceremony and that influenced the need for the third hospital. The entry features the hospital's name carved in granite on the pediment above as well as stone pillars. Newtown Hall served as the Administration building throughout the entire duration of the hospital. This building most likely was built with the Water Struck Gonic Brick that Walter Crabtree initially wanted to build the entire campus with. The post office was in this building, when you walk in to the right there are brass mailboxes. Offices were on the first floor such as the bookkeeper, records clerk, building manager, medical records group, office of the Trustees as well as the Superintendant and his secretary. Upstairs more dorms were kept.

Because of it's prominence and the care it's been given, Newtown Hall will likely be kept in the future. The clock tower has had one side fixed recently.
