Originally used as a {INSERT TYPE OF GROUP}, in 1945 it was used as isolation hospital with patients with scarlet fever and diptheria on the first floor and patients with tuberculosis on the second floor. In 1956 all the tuberculosis patients were transferred to Norwich State Hospital and two wards were throughly fumigated and 44 chronically ill, neurological patients were moved from Greenwich House. With the rise of psychotropic drugs in the fifties a medication room was established in the basement of Fairfield House.
